“The end is near!” A nun standing at the second mile marker for the broad street run encouraged us with these words. Somehow, coming from a nun, they weren’t comforting. And not only that, she was lying! There were still eight miles to go.
I am not sure how you all feel hearing the end is near. There are still color days and awards assemblies. Field trips and finals tests. Some of you may be asking, how will it all get done in 18 days. While others of you may be saying, what can I do to give these last 18 days a strong finish.
Here are a few ideas to keep you organized and your lessons sizzling:
Sign out the CPS (clickers) to give your last pre-tests of the year, or use them to do an inventory of what your students liked best this year
Take an early vacation to a tropical place via United Streaming or Safari
Use the ReadWriteThink Letter Generator and have your students write a letter to a relative about something they loved during this school year
Download Google Earth (just regular, not Pro) and take virtual trips to some of the locations that your students are traveling to this summer
Organize the photos you have taken this year with Photo Story and make a slide show for your class
Get ahead and start working on your Back to School Night powerpoint for next year (find a template in the groups folder: general info)
Use the copier to scan students’ classwork or articles and worksheets you want to keep for next year
Copy anything that is on your computer hard drive (ex. on the desktop) over to your H: drive or burn those files to a cd
If you want to try one of these out and need help, don’t hesitate to ask.
Good luck making it through to the finish line. The end is near!
